Whitebaiting on the West Coast.

Westport is a small town [ Pop. 5000 odd ] on New Zealands West Coast. The Buller River debouches more water than any other in the country - yep, it rains a bit - and the white bait are considered the finest available. There is plenty to do here with the Rain Forest adjacent, abundant water birds and wetland creatures, historic Denniston just up the hill and a Main Street with shops and Pubs like they used to be. Come on over, we'd love to see you.

Whitebait -wily little delicacies. Come down the Coast to the Buller and catch some!

Guided parties of 1 - 6 for 1 to 7 days: September to mid November[contact us to arrange the best time and tides]. Wet weather gear, boots and nets supplied. Lunch - whitebait caught by your own hands made into famous 'Rex' fritters [ the secret is the organic eggs!], freshly baked bread and perhaps a glass of local Miners Ale. WARNING! Whitebaiting is addictive -  and you have never had the ultimate seafood until youv'e tried a fresh whitebait fritter.

• $145 per day per person. [ you may even catch enough to pay for it!]
• Extra meals at $10 p.p. breakfast and $25 p.p. dinner available.B.Y.O.
• Free pick up from the Airport and bus. If you come on the Tranz-Alpine train from Christchurch to Greymouth pick up is $70 per car load each way.
• Transport to and from your fishing 'possie'.
• Freezing, packing of your catch if required.
